Uncover a hidden screen in the Raspberry Pi Imager Application to easily set up SSH, WiFi, and hostnames for your device without creating additional files. Just press Ctrl+Shift+X!
[0:00] Everyone knows about the two files that you can use when making an SD Card for a Raspberry
[0:05] A blank file called SSH to enable SSH and a file called wpa_supplicant to connect to WiFi.
[0:12] But did you know you can do all this from a hidden screen on the Raspberry Pi Imager Application?
[0:17] All you need to do is hit “Ctrl+Shift+X” and you get this nice settings page.
[0:22] From here you can:
[0:23] Set the hostname for your Pi.
[0:25] Enable SSH and change the default password.
[0:28] And you can set up the WiFi connection details.
[0:31] Really handy to be able to do all of this here and not mess around with creating random files.
[0:36] Even better,
[0:37] it actually works - our Pi is on the network with the hostname we specified
[0:41] and we can SSH onto it.
[0:43] I don’t know why this is so hidden away, it’s a really useful screen.
[0:46] This wil probably turn out to be one of those things that everyone knows except for me,
[0:50] but hopefully it will be useful for someone.
[0:52] Thanks for watching - if you’ve got any more Pi tips - leave them in the comments!
